Trimacare Empty Trimacare

Post by princesslou Sat Jan 21 2012, 20:21

Three days ago we had Paris at the vets for a cough, she was prescribed a anti biotic called Trimacare, she had only one tablet. That night she slept ok until 2am, her head started shaking and her eyes glazed over... we had to take her to the vets for a diazepam injection to stop the seizures and were given some to insert up her bottom if she started again, We had to use it at 6am. I had to take her to vets that morning for blood tests and to keep in for observations, she did not have any more siezures and touch wood has not as yet. The vet said to stop giving the anti biotic and she prescribed another, she said that it was not a side affect from the tablet so we are puzzled to what has caused these. Has anyone had anything like this happen? It was so scary, had to take a day off work, what a mess i was.

Oh hun, hugs to you. Has the vet suggested what it could have been instead?

Never experienced it and never wish to! Sounds very much like its connected to the anti bio though.

Do let us know Xx

The vet was quick to tell me not to give her any more of the tablets, the list of problems included tumour, and epilepsy! I really think it was the tablets as she has been fine since, it gives you a huge fright!

Did the medication come with the usual insert with details of side effects? Certainly seems to me like your poor girl had an adverse reaction. Hell of a thing to happen and must have been really scary. Hope she is better soon.

We got them in a brown bottle with only prescription label on, it makes you relise just how much apart of the family they are.

If it wasn't a side effect of the tablets, why did the vet stop them & prescribe another?

It sounds very much like a bad reaction to that type of anti biotic!
