Re: collar for scarlett
Personally i would go nylon, purely because its her first collar and she will need to get use to it, the leather one is tough etc PLUS lol you may want to go cheap at first because you will be replacing it with a bigger one soon enough lol, they soon grow!

Re: collar for scarlett
yeah was planning to get a nylon one for now till she gets use to it , then buy a leather one
Re: collar for scarlett
Yeea, best to start of cheap and flimsy while they grow and get used to it etc .. my Skye is still in a nylon one .. my vinnie had a leather one but skye bit loads of lil teeth marks in it when she was tiny haha so he has a nylon one again too .. when you have the two who like to beat each other up the leather one begins to look tatty in time haha

Re: collar for scarlett
Don't go for this nylon one. Rocky had one of these and it ended up rubbing all the hair of his neck and throat area and made it very sore. We had to keep putting cream on it to clear it up.
He has this one now, it's not very feminine I know, but they also do it in a tan colour if you prefer.

omg that adorable!!!!!!
Re: collar for scarlett
Haha they have matching harness and lead too
yeeah, Majority of them are very soft! we had to keep my old boy in a nylon one because his cone when he was castrated cut into his neck and left a bald patch so any other collar just rubbed the same area bless him .. i personally dont get leather just because it can split and pinch etc when it starts to get old

Re: collar for scarlett
Mine are both back in Nylon collars.
Well the older one is nearly 15yrs, (so definitley "back" for her), I did the leather collar when she was between one and two but as we lived on rural acreage with a permanent creek as one of our boundaries, she swam too much to leave her leather collar on. In fact I gave up on her wearing a collar as it got so smelly.
I know this may sound bad, but she wore a length of chain with a "D" link to hold it in a circle from the hardware store for a while as she was always in the creek. We had to have the council dog tag on at all times as the other side of the creek was farm land and the owner was a member of the council, so I really didn't want her to wander over there without her tag on.
These days they go "naked" as my hubby says and only wear their collars on walks or outings. Collars really do get very sweaty and smelly & these days the older one has so many skin issues that I would forgo this if I didn't have to attach her lead to it.

I wish we could educate people about how wonderful their breed is without having to have prior experience
Maybe one day, we can only live in hope
This was Izzy's first collar

I was bitten by a GSD when I was 18 and I'm still scared of them, unfortunately other more recent situations have not helped change my mind.
I grew up with labs, so I wasn't totally lacking in dog knowledge when I was bitten.
However being owned by SBT's for the past 15 years makes me totally forget about these experiences.
