Forum lurker...
Well, I have been lurking here for months now, and don't really post much! I know, I know, how rude...I love reading everyone's posts and check most days. I have learnt a lot from all of the wise people on here! But I have decided I should make more effort to actually post from now on, as I feel rude just reading all of your conversations! So hopefully you will see more of me (and my gorgeous girlie Sandi!) from now on! We rescued Sandi about a year ago now, she was approximately 10 months old (not sure as she was a stray), and we love her to bits! I was initially worried about adopting a staffie (yes, I was one of those people who was influenced by the press!), but it was the best thing we ever did. Nearly all of the dogs in the rescue centre were staffies, and since owning one I have no idea why! They are the most loyal, loving dogs. I am a total staff convert! It really annoys me now when people judge Sandi just because of her breed. Sandi loves everyone, especially kids. She is very good with most dogs. Hopefully she will be great with all dogs from now on, as she is getting to see them everyday. We have just got a fantastic dog walker who takes 4 dogs at a time in her dog mobile and they all go for an hour walk up Cleeve Hill. Apparently Sandi has been great and is loving it! Anyway, bit of a long ramble..but hello and sorry for lurking for so long! x

Hi Kelly, and thanks for joining us. Nothing wrong with lurking for a while, you need to make sure this is your kind of forum
I was also like you, I paid too much attention to the media and said I'd never have a staffy around my kids. Well I then met my dad's staffy, Charlie came along a few months later in December of last year, and we love him so much that we're going to get another - a bitch this time.
Glad you've joined us properly now, looking forward to getting to know you and the beautiful Sandi better

I'm afraid I have a confession to make. Shhhhh, I used to be the same as you, influenced by the press about the wonderful Staffys.
I know, I know, some time to own up now but there you go. Sometimes it takes hearing it from someone else too. There is no way we could be without our little Rocky now he has changed our lives in so many ways for the better.
I have now even decided to make a career change because of him (from administration to vet nurse).
So there you go lurking can pay off and we would not hesitate to get another Staffy in a heart beat. Would have one tomorrow if we had the room.
Now back over to you again, where are those pictures.....

Re: Forum lurker...
I promise I will get some pics up tomorrow!
Shontelle - I can honestly say that seeing Sandi with kids, I believe staffies are one of the best breeds to have around kids. We don't have any, but you can see Sandi's eyes light up and her tail wag as soon as she see a child. The parents aren't usually too keen to let her say hello though, which is a shame..
Kathy - that is fantastic that your lovely staff has inspired you to change your career! Yes, shh... don't shout too loudly on here about our past prejudices
