Hi New Member - Rescued Staffy in August 2011
Hi my name is Lisa and I rescued a beautiful Brindle Staffy from 'Happy Endings Rescue Centre' in East Sussex at the end of August 2011. She is 6 years old and has apparently had 6 litters !? Poor girl, Bless her . she was very skinny and her coat was very dry and rough. She struggled to eat and had a small appetite , I took her to the vets to check she was healthy and she had to have two canine teeth on the left side taken out on one side as both had been chipped off and was showing the pulp. Since then she is a totally different little girl, loves her food, has a full zest for life , full of cuddles and of course kisses . My girl is very loving and loyal and loves my two boys aged 11 and 5 . She is gradually getting calmer around my rescued cat of 8 years she no longer chases Thelma the cat . I had a dog trainer for 2 sessions to help me become the pack leader and for the children to learn how to give commands and respect Ellie when she is asleep in her basket . Ellie is not agressive to people she would lick you not bite you , but she has her moments with other dogs especially grey hounds. Unfortunately she charged over to one in a park who's owner put it on a very tight lead and so Ellie did her usual grumble grumble and jumped at it and the owner tried to kick Ellie and shouted swear words to me and my boys saying she should be muzzlled . I was very shocked and the boys were upset and we are now very aware not to let her off unless we are alone in the park or woods as she is not great at recall she comes in her own good time and loves squirrels and running over to other dogs to play, but Ellie does like to be the boss and tends to put her feet up on other dogs backs and grumble . Luckily my good friend also has a Staffy X from Reystead in East Sussex age 2 and they love playing rough together and are very good friends to go walking with or down to the beach. I have never had a staffy and was unaware of the stigma these fantastic loving dogs have and I would not hesitate to rescue another one, but boy she does SNORE ! x .

well we all learn by our mistakes. yes there is a stigma with them but like you say they are loving so who cares what others think. yours isnt the only one to snore either. they snore snort fart burp and are regular poop machines. i dont know where it all comes from.
i have 2 the little one Lemmy we got when he was 8 weeks old in February 2011 the big one is Lottie we rescued her in October 2011 she is about 19 months old and very scared of people. i think she must have had a good kicking at some point but we are working with her and she is coming along great. glad to hear your getting on famously with yours cant wait for pictures

Hi and welcome from Rocky and me. Thank you for your intro which was very interesting. Some people should engage brain before opening mouth (the person in the park) and be sure of the facts first anyway, stupid person.
Glad to hear you have a friend to walk with that always helps. Have a good look around the website it has lots of useful info.

Hi Lisa and Ellie! I am new in this forum as well. Ellie is so lucky to have found you, Lisa. I have adopted a dog last year too and her name is Amy, a 2 year old american staffordshire terrier. Life has never been this happy until Amy came into my life. I guess Ellie has made your life so much fun too, right?

Hi Lisa and welcome to the forum,
Sounds like you've worked wonders for Ellie and for breeding her 6 times totally disgusting, what gets into some god knows ...we had someone by we doing that just for the money and the bitch went thin and she'd had 6 litters.
Congratulations on giving our beauties a new lease of life

welcome, its best if you dont let them of in public unless you have a good recall, otherwise you will get the breed a bad name...
