Dog owners with no control.
Wasn't sure where to put this but had to rant. So me and my mum went out with the 2 dogs, went out a bit earlier than usual so it was still light to walk through the woods and fields. Get to the start of the woods (5 min walk) and hear a man shouting, next minute 2 MASSIVE Rottweilers running towards us off lead (these dogs are easily 50kg). I picked Bailey up cause if any of them got him it would have been game over, I know you shouldn't pick a dog up, but my dogs are family and I'll do anything to protect them! So anyway one of these dogs had my older dog pinned down trying to get hold of her but my dog managed to get away and run about the woods trying to get away. While I'm holding Bailey one Rottweiler jumped up on me but I turned my back on it and heard it's jaws snap together, millimetres from my arm and Bailey's back end! Owner couldn't get them to come back to him, they weren't listening , just intent on chasing my dog, she's a really fast runner though so just shouted at her to run home which she did. Got out to the main road and the Rottweilers are running in and out of gardens and up and down the street looking for her, then they spotted me with Bailey and started coming for me but I jumped a wall and eventually the owner got hold of them. A woman got out her car and said it's not the first time this has happened with him! She said he got a Rottweiler put down because it attacked a postman doing his rounds! I usually have my cousin's child who is 5yrs old, so if he had seen this and ran or something, what could happen! Also I have a 2yr old son as well, it could have been so much worse!! So £135 lighter from the vets and she's semi ok now, she's always been timid as she's a rescue but what will she be like now after this? She has 2 puncture's on her ears and a bite on her back, the vet said she has been extremely lucky!

Re: Dog owners with no control.
Oh no not another one, this just seems to be getting commen.
I would contact the dog wardens and report the incident, the bloke needs a kick up the bum.
I really hope yours will be ok, mentally and phisically. Sorry you had to go through that caused by a stupid stupid owner. Xx

Re: Dog owners with no control.
Yeah it was worse being 2 massive rotties as well! We're waiting on the police coming up to take a statement and my mum's going to phone the dog warden too.
She's doing great considering what she's just been through, but I'm also worried about Bailey after seeing that and me going mad at the owner, Bailey was shaking like a leaf after it! x

That's terrible, you must be really shook up, I would report them for sure, cause like you say if there is a next time kids could be there, hope your dog recovers well and it hasn't affected it mentally

oh my god poor thing hope she ok soon. and poor you holding the wee one could have been so nasty but i would have done the same. there is an old man round the corner from us must be 80 odd if he's a day and he has a rotti he takes out with a muzzle on. he walks it up the grass on the edge of the road outside my house doesnt pick up after it but you can see the dog is not to be trusted. how would that old man be able to control that if it decided to bolt. i would report the 2 rotties if i were you. like you say if you had gone for a walk and had your wee one with you the out come could have been different.

Yeah still shaking, but not sure if it's anger or fright lol! Something definitely needs done about it and as much as I hate to say it, I don't think a muzzle etc would do any good with these dogs, there is absolutely no control what so ever!

She's lying sleeping just now but only time will tell, her wounds will heal up soon but wether or not she's fine about going out etc! As soon as I seen the dog I picked Bailey up by the harness, it was just an instant reaction! When I'd got home I thought it was the worst thing to do but they would have killed Bailey with one bite!! Yeah people should know what they can control and stick within there limits, this rottie owner is just like his dogs, big and fat. We're waiting on the police and then we'll be phoning the dog warden! Yeah thank god none of the kids were there!

Re: Dog owners with no control.
That is shocking the guy should have them taken off him for sure if he can't control his dogs or made to take obidience classes to be able to control them

Re: Dog owners with no control.
One of the dogs is older, looked kinda scruffy so I'm thinking maybe 8-9 but that's just a guess! The other one is a lot younger and fitter maybe about 3ish, so not sure if obedience classes would do much for the older one, maybe the younger one but god only knows!

Re: Dog owners with no control.
Luckily this is the worst injury. The other 2 are just small punctures around her ears.

Re: Dog owners with no control.
I got really upset for you and your dogs reading this, it must have been very frightening for you all. Hope your dogs injuries heal very quickly and she doesn't suffer any reaction.
Think it must be every dog owners worst nightmare.

The police are just away after taking statements from me and my mum, there going to do checks and stuff before going to his door. Will phone the dog warden tomorrow as well and report it! Hopefully hear back soon about what is happening!

Re: Dog owners with no control.
thats disgraceful! im soon getting a staffy cross pup and im scared something like that happens to her! some people should just be banned from having dogs full stop! Glad you, your mum and dgs are ok hope your doggie recover soon! xxx
Re: Dog owners with no control.
Yeah it's truly horrible! Fair enough having 2 rottweilers, ONLY if there well under control. They're far too big and powerful a dog to not bother training/socialising! My dogs are fine thankfully, Meg (older dog) is her usual self but may be because of the painkillers she's had so will see how she is in the morning! And Bailey is his normal hand-attacking self haha, he doesn't bother that I've saved his life, my hands are still fair game to him lol! Shall keep everyone updated!

Omg that must have been terrifying. I would have done the same picking the wee one up, you just want to protect them. I hope Meg's wounds heal fast ><

Re: Dog owners with no control.
OMG!! this is afwul. im so sorry uu and uu'r dogs had to endure such a ordeal. im the exact same if another dog regardless of its size attached my staff i'd be in the middle trying to protect her. she's my family and i would put my life on the line for her. its disgusting this gentleman has allowed his dogs of a lead with the full knowledge of their behaviour around other animals. i hope uu've reported him to the police and sent him uu'r vet bill. he shud be furious with himself as he's a irresponsible dog owner and is putting animals and clearly people at risk.
i hope you and uu'r dog get a speedy recovery and she finds herself able to trust herself around other animals again
All the best
