Down Boy
Hi Everyone,
Im new here and was after some tips/help.
I have a lush 4yr old boy called Mitch, now this is all my fault as i have allowed my boy on my old batterd leather sofa since a pup for cuddles etc but ive now gone a brought a new fabric sofa and i want to stop my boy getting up on it.
He has never had a bed even though i have brought a number of nice cushions, beds and blankets over the years but he just wont use them.
Any tips would be fab thanks Emma and Mitch

Re: Down Boy
Hi and welcome Emma. Try charity shops for any old blankets and throws to put on your new sofa.
This may well be a bad habbit to break as the song goes. Rocky also has his own bed but much prefers the sofa or our bed.
Good luck.......

Re: Down Boy
Agree with something to cover it whilst you try and train him out of it, haven't had to, Moo loves the sofa!
I guess if you are consistent with telling him down and puuting him on the floor he may catch on, but when your not looking he'll be back up!!
Hiya and welcome from me and Moo

Re: Down Boy
Try and find a spray that deters dogs and spray it on there.
Also, training the "off" command works as well.

Re: Down Boy
well its going to be tough breaking old habits but like jazz says just keep telling him OFF and he will get the message eventualy. make him a nice comfy bed next to the sofa and every time he gets up on the sofa say OFF with a gentle push and show him his own bed. a treat and lots of praise when he does it when told. its not going to happen over night but with time he will get the message
