Bajas 2002 4/15 - 2012 1/6 Mars05134
Bajas was put to sleep this afternoon at one thirty. After injuring his back last year it was only a matter of time and today was the day. He’s been enjoying Christmas on the couch or in front of the fire with us, eating whatever he wanted and mostly being carried around in the house and to go outside to potty. He’s deteriorated fast the last few days, so it was really time. Once the ice and snow came outside he started walking even less and with that reduction in movement he started having pain, most likely from the calcifications in his joints.

I know it was the right decision, but it’s so strange imagining a future without him. There has been other dogs before him, but none like him. He was the dog that turned me into a crazy dog lady rather than just a person with dog(s). He introduced me to dog sports, first and foremost obedience, but also agility, tracking, tricks and so on. I knew pretty much nothing about dogs other than as regular family pets before him. I didn’t plan to get a dog with so much drive, but I got him and just had to find ways to channel the energy and brains he had so that he didn’t drive me NUTS.

Thankfully he calmed down eventually, but we've had so much fun and adventures. He would still go nuts if he met new people, but at home he was quite relaxed. He loved few things more than going to the vet's. When you're an attention seeking pug nothing is better than being put on a table and get attention and a few treats. A few jabs and pokes can't reduce the joy of such a place. If you let him off leash in the vet's parking lot he'd go running inside at full speed, much to the delight of the staff. Love Struck

Sending big Hugs your way >Big Grin< it's not easy to make that decision, but sometimes ( as in your case ) it is the best decision all round.

Hold tight to the wonderful memories of times you shared and the joy he bought to your life.
