Re: my son has taught River....
We taught Violet high 5, but now, we have a problem. She sometimes does unrequested high 5s, or as we humans like to call it SLAPS us right in the face, then asks where her sweet might be! Her keenness to perform is the reason we never taught her to speak on command...
We're currently trying to teach her to bow her head when we say 'konnichiwa'. another important trick in the repertoire of a dog who doesn't even know 'stay'!

sorry but it does sound funny, but i bet it hurts...
there me been working on drop, stay, heel for ages, and me son just does high 5 like that that..i am impressed with them both thou, My son at 16 for having the love and patience to teach her, and River for catching on. she is catching on to the fact that when i throu her ball if she brings it back and drops it then i throu it again for her, rather than her 'killing' it and me having to throu it away... i do love staffys

Re: my son has taught River....
Well done That's great.
Roxy also does the "high 5" on whichever side you ask for, either left or right. Basically it was an extension of shake hands, which is a very similar action except lower. She will also give us "ten" if we put both hands up she will give simultanious high fives with both paws together.
Keep up the great work. Your son has done very well.

Well done River. Tinkerbell will gove each paw when asked and play dead but that's it. Ask her to come back when called, wait or stay and she plays deaf and dumb
