SNAAAAAAAAAAAAAAKE
Was strolling along with Rips up ahead.... what was in the middle of the path but a bloody great adder warming itself in the sun at this time of year!!!!!...luckily Ripley must have zoomed straight past it..would have been a very different story if she had noticed it :S
Very close call!!

Re: SNAAAAAAAAAAAAAAKE
That was lucky
I went into tree felling when I was about 18 or so, and got bitten on the shin by a young adder (the doc reakons thats what it was anyway) I didnt feel anything while working (always getting stabbed by branches etc) untill my leg started to itch and swell, then I found the two puncture wounds

Re: SNAAAAAAAAAAAAAAKE
We have never met a live adder when walking but we used to meet so many grass snakes and slow worms when we were out.
We found a massive grass snake once in the road which had been hit by a car, it was just lying in the road. And my old boy was petrified of it to such an extent he cried as I dragged him past it!

Re: SNAAAAAAAAAAAAAAKE
We have a lot of them in the Mendips and i am terrified of them so avoid walking there in the good weather.
At my last house we had one that would lie on the sun on rockery stones and then swim in the pond. To see one swimming really freaked me out. I was always worried one of my dogs would go over and sniff it while it was lying in the sun.
No chance of them out in the sun now, we have had nothing but rain and more rain for weeks and my poor boy is fed up of having his paws cleaned every time we go out.
