Elephant dog
.. got up this morn, went out onto the landing and heard Max coming, soon as I saw him I said WTF !!!
His whole head and muzzle had swollen ... he was sick last night before bed, but we'd had a guest he didnt know and got himself really excited so thought nowt of it, but he had been sick again in the night also.
Decided to nip him to the vets this morn for a check ... who said he has prob had an anaphalactic (spelling?) reaction to something ... he seems ok in himself, and made friends at the vets with a black lab, and a blue cocker, and bless him .. there was a large male dalmation in there growling and showing his teeth to Max, but he just stood there pulling against the lead looking at him (my wife said do ya want to take him outside, but I said no ... its good for people to see a confident staffy that dosent react to aggression even when he's not feeling 100%!!)
I think it has gone down a little already, but I'm gunna give him a bit of rice and stewing steak, and leave this mornings run, and let him snuggle by the radiator for a while ><

Re: Elephant dog
Hope he is okay. Anaphalatic reactions can be very serious. Do you know what he is allergic to?

Re: Elephant dog
Cheers all
His face has gone down quite a lot now, but think he is feelin sorry for himself a bit bless him ><
Still no idea what caused it tho ?
Our last staffy Zac, had a similar thing years ago (but much worse, his eye's were almoet closed ) ... and IIRC, we thought the cause of that was a wasp sting or summut like that ?? ... either way, makes us panic when we see our baby like that

Re: Elephant dog
aww poor Max...glad he is better..
both Jethro and Winston have been stung or bitten by wasps or bees on their face ( at different times! )..and it is horrible to see their face all swollen and lumpy..looked like someone had whacked them with a baseball bat.

Get well soon Max ... Hope it was a 'one off' - allergic reactions are horrible, especially if you don't know what causes it x

The ONLY thing we can think of, is my son's new girlfreind popped in to say hello and Max went BALLISTIC!! (in a nice but mad way) poor girl wondered what hit her even tho they have a staffy and a couple of other dogs ... anyway, they also have a horse I think, and when Max was mauling her to within an inch of her life , he kept rubbing his face (pretty intensly) on her jacket (as she was useing it as a sheild in the end ) .. so dont know if that had summut to do with it
