Q. re scrotum!
Milo is home after a few hours at the vets after having his neuter op. today all being well. He's eaten a light supper and is blissfully quiet and seems very well in himself considering!
I didn't look at his wound until after we got home - I just wanted to get him home and have him settled and cosy, the thing is he has the tiny inscision just above his scrotum and has obviously had his testicled removed but his scrotum is still very obvious. Now I am sure there is some swelling yes, but bearing in mind he's about one year in age he had a rather large pair!! will this skin shrink away or will he be left with a 'sack and no contents'?! <<<<my husbands language, he currently looks abnormal bless him x

Re: Q. re scrotum!
My hubby just read this and says that it sounds OK. The swelling will reduce over several weeks. Rocky was the same and all is OK in that area now, he was done a year ago though.

Re: Q. re scrotum!
thanks girls I did google how they did it prior to surgery and all sounds correct and I have alot of trust and faith with our vet so no worries there, he just looks odd with his 'empty sack!' I'd have asked at the vets had I have noticed then and didn't want to call them about it as he has a follow up on Christmas eve. xx

Re: Q. re scrotum!
Boycie was done a couple of weeks ago and yes it does shrink once the swelling goes down. I had the same concerns as you but dont worry it looks fine now.

glad i read this or i would have been worried too when Lemmy goes in. i thought they took away the balls and then fixed the skin with a little cosmetic tuck

Re: Q. re scrotum!
Harry was done in June and he was the same, but everything slowly shrank very nicely and it all looks neat and normal.

Re: Q. re scrotum!
I know this sounds crazy but I did ask my vet about 'falsies'. He was not impressed as in his view cosmetics for dogs was unethical practice

Re: Q. re scrotum!
glad Milo's op went well..
Jethro was desexed at 6 months and now at 12 and a half there is absolutely nothing to see! Winston was only done last month but already his little empty bag is shrinking day by day..I think they look so much neater without 'them'

Re: Q. re scrotum!
thankyou! LOL Lynne!! Something I didn't consider, it's not like it matters for a dog really I suppose!
Now I have seen that op. in a human but it was obviously for a cancer patient and only 17 :0( a member of my family also has a falsie as you call it at just 21 again testicular cancer...and completely sterile....shocking and very sad indeed.
