Re: bones!
Alot of butchers sell bags of brisket bones but I personally wont go near them as they are too soft - we used to always give them but after our foxy nearly choked to death on one never again! He managed to swallow a piece that got lodged in his throat - luckily we were there to pull it out as he collapsed and couldnt breath.
Cooked bones are no good either as they splinter which is dangerous.
I would get a nice big raw cannon bone - anything else I wouldnt touch. Cannon bones are good cause they are huge, last ages and are so big they can't choke on them! My lot love them

Re: bones!
The only problems with the large, weight bearing bones is that they last too long, and being raw they can get bacteria. Also, the marrow in them can be too rich for some dogs' stomachs.
I give lamb ribs/necks/spines which seem to be fine!

Re: bones!
Just be wary what you give and use caution. I have never had a problem with cannon bones but the sensible thing is to throw them out or they will last forever and get a build up of bacteria. I wont give anything they can munch up and swallow - they might be fine and go there whole lives without a problem but it only takes the one small bone fragment to get lodged somewhere it shouldnt and do damage.
My staffies father swallowed part of a bone this year and although it passed out on its own eventually he had blood in is poo for a few days and it was very painful. I am also a vet nurse and you do see dogs coming into clinics needing xrays and surgery as a result of eating bones every now and again too so I just wont risk it personally.
