much that i feel sorry for some people i really do not apreciate being stopped on every corner in the middle of town today by different charities wanting me to set up direct debits for monthly payments.

Re: Charities
not that it is funny. I have to run the gauntlet of clip boards everyday! Does my nut right in, what do they not understand "I give to charities of my choice."

Re: Charities
I have about 3 or 4 direct debits for charities. That's it. I don't want any more! And yet I get stopped in the street, phoned at the most awkward times & get bombarded with adverts to take out more!
Every so often I review them, and I might make a change. But that's my choice & I'll do it in my own good time!

Re: Charities
Glad I'm not the only person who feels that way. I give to the charities of my choice but it makes me feel terrible when I say no thanks to them My daughter got stopped a couple of weeks ago and asked if she would like to sponsor a dog, she told them she already sponsors one of their dogs. The guy said that was good but still tried to get her to sponsor another. If she had the money she would and I think she felt pretty bad saying no, it felt a bit like the guy saying yeah thats great you support us but you should give more

I think that is a risky strategy for them - a lot of people would take umbrage and not sponsor ANY dog from that charity anymore. It just comes across as ungrateful, which is a shame, as I'm sure that the dog your daughter already sponsors is very grateful for her kindness!
Today I got stopped by one of them, and the way he was trying to get peoples attention was by running up to them and asking 'Do you want to stroke my arm?'. NO THANKS PAL! I would rather give (in terms of money and time) to charities that don't pay people extortionate commission to get peoples bank details in the street.
