Woohoo ! A successful walk tonight !
I've been having a bit of a 'mare' taking Monty out on the lead when I take him over to the lake. I get about a 10 minute walk until he sits and doesn't budge .. not liking his lead at all !
I've stopped with the Harness and got him a collar I can attach his lead to instead. Normally when I put the lead on him in the house, he doesn't move, he just stands there, clearly telling me 'I DON'T LIKE THIS THING ON MY NECK MOTHER !'. So tonight, I got home from work, clipped his lead to his collar, he stood around for a bit, I tried walking him around the house, and he was having none of it. He just sat there, so I let it go. Then he walked and waited by the front door. As soon as I opened the front door, he was out like a dart ...
Apart from the usual stop and sniffing at lamposts and doorsteps ... all I can say is ... YIPPEEE !!! He walked, he ran, he didn't stop and sit. So instead of taking him up the street and back (too dark to go to the lake : ( ) I took him further up the street and over the bridge across the d/carridgeway ... AND BACK. Complimented him all the way there and back. Walked into the house, my mum lifted her head up as if it say 'well ? any better ?' ... Oh yes, he was very good !
So, a little note for all you doggie owners who are having a tough time with your pup getting used to their leads ... persevere, keep at it, they will get used to it

Thanks Caryll ! He's flat out in his cage now, no doubt he is knackered.
PS thanks for the info on those puppy classes, I'm taking him in the new year when they resume after the christmas break
