puppies at Harrods! :(
I have just seen a Dogs Trust newsfeed on my facebook about their Christmas campaign to stop retailers selling puppies for Christmas. I must have been living under a rock as I had no idea Harrods sold puppies and kittens
It made me feel really sad as I do wonder if they come from puppy farms

Re: puppies at Harrods! :(
At least they have stopped selling lions!
I've seen a lot of adverts for puppies on gumtree too, saying they will be perfect christmas gifts, ready to go on the 24th of December A puppy would be a great gift if you had researched the dog, prepared for it's arrival and had loads of time off to look after it and settle it in (not to mention time to look after it for the rest of it's life!), but as a surprise gift that the recipient might not even want?

I saw a tv show about it - 2 guys bought it, then they ended up taking him to the wild, but when they went back to visit him years later, even though he was a fully grown, wild animal, the lion walked up to them and hugged them - he must've remembered them!

Re: puppies at Harrods! :(
Compared to most pet shops Harris dog pens are amazing! They're like a little house and the puppies are all together but the cats have their own space. They're not really little they are usually almost full grown. People who can afford to pay 2k for a chihuahua or a moggy usually have lots of time and pamper them a lot lol

Re: puppies at Harrods! :(
I still wonder where the puppies and kittens come from in the first place ... do breeders sell them onto Harrods? I cant see that a responsible breeder wouldnt want to know what kind of home their puppie/dog was going into? Therefore I wonder do they come from puppy farms?
What does everyone else think?
Hayley wow thats a lot of money

Re: puppies at Harrods! :(
I personally wouldn't even consider buying a dog. If you have thousands of pounds to do so, donate that to an animal shelter and rehome one!
IMO I would only ever rescue and the thought of them being sold in Harrods for thousands makes them a luxury, not just a part of a family. I don't care how pampered they are.
Sadly thats fashion and money for you! Xx
