On Sunday I decided to bring the birds inside for a fly around, this is a bit of a task because they don't love to be handled since they met each other... stupidly I decided to get them out of the cage (outside) and bring them in using a towel. I brought Tot in, she was fine, put her inside, then went back for Barry. He put up a bit of a fight and got past me and flew down onto the ground, Where Russell went in for the kill but Barry got a second wind and flew off.
I chased him up behind the shed and saw him fly away and I leaped over the fence and chased after him jumping fences through my neighbours back yards ha ha oops!
I lost sight of him though so I ran around the neighbourhood like an idiot calling "Barry! Barry! Barry! wheres Barry?" trying to get him to call back to me but I couldn't hear him so I assumed he must have flown a long way away. after about 15 minutes I remembered Tot was inside so I ran back home and put her in the cage outside. as soon as she was out there he started calling to her and turns out he was in a tree in my neighbours front yard and he ended up flying back to the cage all by himself!

That's the second time (stupid me) I've lost the birds. The first time I was in tears calling my mum to come and help me and freaking out. that was back when Barry was a fatty and he ended up flying to the ground so I caught him, Tot flew home once we got Barry in the cage.

This is Barry. He is 4 years old.

haha yes I felt a bit like I was out of an action movie jumping the fences!

a lot of the neighbours saw me as I knocked on their doors to see if he was in their yard (for the fences I didn't jump) hahaha. I would have looked silly looking up into the trees calling "where's Barry?" (to which he would normally reply "peek-a-boo") but you can't worry about looking silly when you've lost one of your babies!

bey your releived now. we had a budgie called titch when i was about 7 and my mum once set off for work and when she got to the bustop a lady pointed out that she had a bird in the hood of her coat. when my mum looked out of the corner of her eye there was titch sitting in her hood watching the world go by. she calmly walked home and after that we had to keep his cage door tied shut cos he had actualy opened it himself. i think all animals are here to test if we are looking properly. one lapse and the littleblighters run, fly or do what ever to get a bit of freedom for a while. gemma once had a gerbil that escaped its cage and pete had to tear down the bathroom ceiling cos it got under the floor boards of her bedroom above

So glad you got him back! Those two are really cute, but The reason I never had two at once is just that I liked them being with me. Most of them would prefer another mate to people. I always wanted a cockatoo! They are so playful and social. Thanks for sharing pictures!
