Name calling Empty Name calling

Post by Lizzie Mon Nov 28 2011, 11:08

After reading another post about the horrible names our lovely staffies get called I thought I would tell you about my experience.

A neighbours young grandson who must be about 4 years old regularly visits her and they go for a walk along the lane. He saw me taking Harry for a walk and I heard him say "Nanny why is that lady walking her Pig" I was smiling to myself and could sense the womans embarrassment, but the lad wouldn't give up. She replied "don't be silly thats not a pig its a dog, if it was a pig it would be pink" After a long silence the little boy said "well it could be a black pig!" At this point we all started laughing and I introduced him to Harry and they are now friends. Smile

Another story is my Postman wanted to be friendly to Harry for obvious reasons and often brings him a dog biscuit, but he misheard his name and calls him Curly! Now with the best will in the world I cannot understand how a staffie could be described as being curly Rolling Eyes

To me he is Harry, to the little boy he is Pig and to the Postman he is Curly and he gladly and excitedly answers to all. Big Grin

Poor Harry, the curly-pig Sad

I was talking to a woman who was adopting a greyhound, and she showed a picture of it to her wee boy before it got home. He says, "I like it, but can I ask why we're getting a pony?"

There was a little girl in her stroller passing us by once on a walk and she looked at Saxon and said, "Moo! Momma! Moo!" He does look like a little like a cow, I guess! And he does make piggy sounds, too! He's my Cow-Pig-Hyena-Dog!
