Got chickens! (image heavy)
Here they are I'm so excited (and a little sad already that when they stop laying they will have to...go to the "farm")
I have no idea about their breeds, so any help appreciated.

Their cute, nice set up there, are they free range? why would they need to go to the farm if they stop laying? Mine don't lay havn't for a while could never get rid of my Matilda and Elga.

I personally would keep them but my dad says he won't keep them if theyre just pets, what would be the point. To which i replied what is the point of all our animals? lol. But we'll see what happens!

Fresh eggs, and a very smart set up My friend had chucks, when I was way younger we built a den infront of the run/roost because the rats where a right mare, nothing a bb gun didn't help. Younger years Lol Xx

Re: Got chickens! (image heavy)
my granny and grandad had 12 kids and so feeding them all took quite a lot so my grandad turned the back garden into an alottment and grew his own veg and taties and at the top he had a chicken coop with his chickens in and one cockeral. the vegies and chickens were still part of life as all us cousins were growing up well they had to feed the 30 odd of us too. anyway one morning my auntie asked if i wanted eggs for breakfast and i said yes so she grabbed the brush. i had to run and get the eggs quick while she fought off the cockerel. never said yes again after that. i never thought about it untill i grew up that the chickens i remember as i grew up wouldnt have been the same ones year in year out other wise where did our sunday roast come from.

They are beautiful birds! I love chickens! Tell your dad that they will eat ticks and other bugs and lower the population of bugs in your yard! That's a purpose, isn't it?

they are gorgeous hens, don't now the breed though. What an awesome set up you've got for them too!
my parents have hens, one of them (after she was attacked by Russell) became clucky, sitting on the eggs trying to hatch them. so mum bought two day old chicks and put them underneath her on the nest one night. the next morning the hen thought she had hatched her own babies and looked after them. She is so protective of them! and loves them like her own

nice chooks !! ( chickens )
no idea what breed they are but we have ( had ) 10 Isa Browns and Hi Lines....no cockerels here as all they do is go around raping the girls. Anyway we have had 4 die in the last few months.. I think from old age! Even if they stop laying we just let them live out their days..after all they have supplied us with yummy eggs all these years!
Bit like the poor greyhounds and race horses..once they stop racing they are no longer wanted... that's the thanks they get!
