I'm not convinced....
Hello everyone...
I would like you're oppinions please
I have a 6mnth old staffy boy...hes adorable but i am not sure he's a pure bred...Its not a big deal to me because i love him but theres 1 or 2 niggley little doubts i have...
A little bit of back ground on me and my staffs..i have owned 2 staffs previous to this 1 both female and both brindle..they both had their papers and wer very energetic with the very typical staf looks, very muscular with the ver pronounced head and short nose,
The thing about this little fellow that makes me wonder is because hes 6mnths old and doesnt seem to have very much energy..he comes alive outside but just lies around in the house..my other 2 wouldnt ever sit still!!! i know every dog is different but i have been told he lacks alot of energy that is typical of this breed..also his nose seems longer than it usualy would be..hes also not very meaty wich could be just because hes a puppy? in my deffence ive only evr owned older staffs of 4+ and female so im a novice with a male staffy pup also his paws seem abit bigger than they usually would be..and his neck appears longer...
He was sold to me without papers but told he was full staff...im unconvinced though.I dont mind if hes a cross as hes adoreable but his lack of energy worries me..if hes not pure staff i can put this down to him having diffrnt heritage and traits as other staffs but if he is full this concerns me...i am a worrier but if there is somthing wrong well he cant tell me any advice would be very much appreciated thank you,

Re: I'm not convinced....
He is certainly a looker! I wouldn't worry about the size because he still has a lot of time to fill out and unfourtuatly without papers you will never no if he is full staff or not, as you say not that it matters anyway!
As for being full of beans, as you say they are all different, as long as he is healthy and he certainly looks it, just enjoy

Re: I'm not convinced....
He looks like he could be a full staff - just needs to fill out a bit. At 6 months he's still a pup & has a LOT of growing still to do!
As for energy - he's a boy! They always laze around the house & then liven up when they're outside!

He's very handsome and looks like he could be full Staff. You can't know for sure without papers, but once he's full grown you'll be able to better judge. Whatever he is, he looks like a sweetie!
That's how my little man is!Caryll wrote:As for energy - he's a boy! They always laze around the house & then liven up when they're outside!

He is very handsome. As long as he is healthy and active outside I wouldn't worry. You could always ask a vet as well.
Suki lays around the house alot as well. But she plays so hard outside that she needs the rest.

Re: I'm not convinced....
I can understand wondering, but I honestly can't tell from pictures and he looks to be a very nice boy. Mine can we lazy sometimes in the house, but usually only after a long run or other exercise. I think you will have to wait and see how he is when fully developed around 1.5/2. He really is cute though! As other said, as long as he is happy and healthy, not much more to worry about!

Re: I'm not convinced....
He's adorable and looks just like my childhood staffy, Tyson. My sisters staffy was incredibly lazy, she would spend most of the day sleeping, but had no behavioural or temperament issues. She just LOVED sleeping lol.
Re: I'm not convinced....
Thanks guys for your input,i really appreciate it ,I am going to take him to my local vet next week for a general once over to make sure everything is all ok..hes fairly new to me but i do have his vet papers so i know hes all upto date with his injections etc,
I was only concerned as i know apathy in dogs can be a sign as something else, this is what confused me when he would come alive outside and the longer we've had him is comming out of his shell so maybe he's missing his mum?
I do feel more confidant that im probably just over worrying abit now ive read all of you're experiences,
Thank you

Re: I'm not convinced....
At 6 months they do seem to be all out of proportion. It takes time for them to grow into their paws and other features. Tyson looked very odd at that age and I can still see changes in his shape at 14 months
