Post by Guest Tue Nov 09 2010, 14:27

All i know he is supposed to be a staff cross jack russell but he has really long legs and a slender face what do you think he is?
I got told his mum and dad are short legged but then i got told his father was a staff and mother a pitbull i have no idea. all the staff cross jackrussells iv see online or off look nothing like him maybe's he's an odd ball like Blondy and yet iv seen blondy's color on a pitbull.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yea agree with steve completley. There is so much variation in kc reg staffords let alone cross breeds!! Your dogs are defo nothing to do with pits but even if they were (which they defo are not) staffy cross is fine to tell people if they ask. Big Grin

i think DNA test are dodgy all they will tell u is that your dog is dog, i wouldn't even bother getting one done Tongues so many breeds are so close related it's improssible i would say.

DNA testing is a load of bull in my opinion and im suprised the vet is reccommending it! The likelyhood of it giving u a definitive answer isnt great. As already said ur dogs are staffy crosses end of! No need to even mention the word pit or pit type as 1. your dogs are most definatley not pit type and 2. Pitbulls are banned so if ur dog is found to be a pit type u may be faced with it being put to sleep. Hope this helps Smile

i just had a look at taz, i cant see any pittbull in him, i say your bang on the money when you say he is a staffy x jackrussel, regarding DNA, test you will probably find pittbull somewhere in the genes, cause the staffy breed was derived from the pitt bull, and they are distant cousins.

it doen't mean he got pit in him, staffy x lab look abit like pits or even sometimes staffy x whipet if you get a right pup look abit like a pit the list go on

Totally agree.

You could even say to people that he's a Jack Russell cross! The longer muzzle is an indication of the lack of pit bull to be honest. PBT's have a similar muzzle length to staffords so a longer narrower muzzle would indicate crossing with another breed.
