Digging
Hi all,
My 3 year old male staffy has just recently started to dig the carpet outside my bedroom door(we leave the door closed as he is not aloud on the bed). He only does this when me and my partner are both out. We have not changed his routine if we are both at work we leave the radio on for him and if we are only out for a short while we leave the tv on for him. He has never done this before what could be the reason he's doing this?

Re: Digging
It could be seperation anexiety. They do all love to dig though. Unless you catch him in the act I don't know of any corrective steps you can take though.

Re: Digging
You could try putting up a baby gate to keep him away from your bedroom door while you are out, but it may just result in his digging next to that. It might work though if he is confined to a different area.

Re: Digging
I'd say that it's a touch of separation anxiety. As said before, try a baby gate to keep him away from the door & see what happens. Either that, or rub some Vicks into the carpet - dog's generally hate the smell - and that may keep him away from it. It'll leave a mark on the carpet, though.
