Re: Hi i am new
I wouldn't muzzle mine. I think it makes them feel like they are helpsless to defend themselves. If you have a smaller breed that growls or barks simply try to avoid them. We keep a bag of treats when walking and if we think there is a problem we will distract Suki with a treat until we are past the other dog.
A big key is to learn about body language and be able to stop a problem before it starts. This link should help

Hi and welcome from me and Rocky. Advice as above, try to avoid the confrontational small breeds eg. Jack Russels Good luck with it all.

Re: Hi i am new
welcome to the forum from me and my girls Kita & Izzy.
Good advice above, the way some of the smaller breeds growl and carry on does my head in, let alone our poor innocent dogs out enjoying their daily walk.
Fortunately, my older girl used to turn her head and look at me as if to say "what's that dog's problem....?" Izzy is not as relaxed as Kita but so far she has just ignored them as well. I am very wary of letting her off lead when there is a smaller "fluffy breed" anywhere near. I think I attract them as my hubby never even hears of sees any when he's out walking the girls
