need a bath
right heres our problem. Lottie is rather dirty as you can imagine with the wet weather. her legs are the worst so i have just been taking a cloth to them but she is beginning to have an odour about her. not too bad at the moment but it will get worse. any tips on how to clean her without having to put her in the bath. we tried getting her in but she wouldnt even go in the bathroom. we dont want to stress her and upset her over something like this we can work on it later i just need to clean her up a bit just now.

Re: need a bath
I don't no I just stick Moo in the bath.
Baby wipes? Let her dry off and you can just brush the mud out. Tbh I rarely bath Moo in the winter, she appears to comes clean on her own but I don't have 2 dogs playing together! Double dirt!!

Re: need a bath
I've seen doggy odour sprays and things in pets at home, not used them myself because I thought a baby would do the same job for half the price but I know the smell you mean because mine is getting a bit the same way! Bath time for Mia isn't a very smooth operation though so I'll have to wait hubby to get back!!

Re: need a bath
There is a certain eau de ledger about the place I did get some dry shampoo when i got him which has a bit of a febreezeing effect and is easier than getting him in the bath but I rarely use it as I don't want to disrupt the natural oils in the fur too much

Re: need a bath
When i worked at the greyhound rescue, we would use a cheap sheet i.e a cover for bikes etc (you can pick them up from the £shop) and then would fill 2 buckets, one with warm water with the added dog soap and another bucket of warm water with no soap for rinsing and a big sponge and walah!

Re: need a bath
I saw a foaming no-water-needed shampoo for dogs the other day. It was like a mousse rather than powdery dry shampoo. Looked good, but was pricey and V is getting better with the bath so I didn't get it.

Re: need a bath
I guess it's a bit different over there at the moment with all the cold weather, so washing her outside isn't an option, but Vlad HATES the bath! His mum would apparently run into the bathroom whenever she heard the bath running because she'd want one... Not her boy! Last time we washed him we had a BIG bucket of warm water and we tied him up outside and gave him a good scrub! He was really good! He just will not tolerate the tub and he loves outside, so we figured that's where we'd clean him LOL. I worked. But the weather is getting warmer... in Winter we will struggle to find a solution, but for now it's good! I hope Lottie is going well in her new home! Baby wipes are awesome! Use them all the time

Re: need a bath
i use bawiopes to clean their face cos lemmy has snotty eyes on a morning so i started doing lotties too. she tolerates that and her feet so i will just keep working my round her body till i get it all. she thinks its like stroking her if we talk to her nice so she may go for an all over cloth wash rather than a bath.
