Council 'Dog Asbos'
An article in my local paper tonight says that Dundee Council are appointing a team of seven people to use the Control of Dogs (Scotland ) Act introduced in 2010.
"The move is designed to improve dogs' behaviour by encouraging owners to be more responsible"
"Environmental officers are to be given the power to issue tickets to the owners of badly behaved dogs and will be able to ask a sheriff to put the most out of control mutts down"
Should be interesting to see how that works, i think the paper is trying to get it's letter page buzzing.

Re: Council 'Dog Asbos'
sounds interesting, I think its a good idea to have fines for badly trained dogs, after all you shouldn't have one if you don't take the time to train them.
I wouldn't like the fine issuers to abuse their power though.
see how it goes!

I think they are likely to be responding to complaints so i wonder how they will collect evidence and if they will be experienced with dogs?. They can order you to stay away from certain areas, muzzle your dog, micro chip it for identity , order it neutered, order you to attend training classes . I'm sure it will get very complicated but sounds fine if it could be used to stop problems before they get out of control.Wonder who runs and pays for the training classes?.

Re: Council 'Dog Asbos'
Ide love them to introduce this where i live and publish the results.
There are alot of dogs around my area, everything from toy poodles to laso apsos to staffs, rotties and dobermans.
And the badly behaved dogs are ALWAYS the small dogs owned by old people, im not saying its the small breeds thats the problem, its the old people that treat ther dogs like people, and think they can do nothing wrong.
the other day 2 women with laso apsos stood talking, while ther dogs pulled and snapped at eachother, i walked past with chase and they turnt ther noses up at me and said "i dont know why people have dogs like that" a man then came round the corner with a little female staff, and her and chase just sat sniffing and licking eachother, wagging ther tails. I looked back at the women with ther little badly behaved dogs and said "excuse me...this is why we own these dogs" they gave me the most dirty look ive ever got in my life lol.
I dont care what breed you choose to own, but judge the dog on its behaviour, not its breed.
Sorry for the rant
