back again!!
hi all havent been on in a while but in need of some advice,as you all no i have daija a 8month old staffy x and roxi a 17 week old full staffy.. anyways il get to the point...my brother in law adopted a 1 year old female staffy (storm) a few days ago and as a result of him being part of the furniture at my house we decided it best to introduce the dogs
daija and storm get on like they were seperated at birth!! BUT on first seeing roxi storm growled and tried to attack her, roxi being roxi didnt back off and tried to scrap in front of me luckily they were both leaded for there own protection so we pulled them in different directions and that was the end of meeting number 1
today we took roxi, daija ,roxis sister xena and storm for playtime on the fields near where we live and all was well untill yet again storm pounded over all guns blazing and bit roxi on the neck (no damage luckily!) all hell broke loose at that point roxi wouldnt give up and was giving as good as she got altho none were actually getting each other as they were both leaded at this point( roxi was already leaded when storm bit her) i cant understand it as roxi gets on with every other dog shes ever come into contact with....storm seems to have taken an instant disliking to roxi although roxi is the most loving and placid pup ive ever met i dont get it?? we arnt too sure about storms background as far as we no she was mistreated in some way(she has a few scars to prove it!) could this be the reason she doesnt like roxi???? any advice is much appreciated

Re: back again!!
its an doninate issue, you have to watch their body language and stop it before it starts.
Re: back again!!
which we have thus far thankfully! i find it hard to believe that she wants to "dominate" roxi but is happy to let daija take control? surely its the older of the two that she needs to dominate? i read the link u posted and have gotta say its spot on!!..storm has pawed in the air with daija and humped her lol was weird to watch but u could see that it was purely game play and nothing more, roxi is a lovely well mannered dog who warms to anyone but storm seems aggitated the minute she comes in the room and instantly tries to attack roxi even if roxis distracted with something else.....i need to make it clear that roxi has in no way been aggressive to storm unless shes literally attacking her!! and its not just roxi its roxis sister xena aswell...it appears that storm just doesnt like puppys? the problem is that we dont know storms background and as such arent sure if she has a dog issue or weather like u say its just a dominance thing

Re: back again!!
I think Steve is right, Storm doesn't feel threatened by Roxi and so is trying to dominate her. Given that Roxi is younger Storm thinks she can push her around and is trying to assert her dominance, unfortunately this is resulting in problems. You say Roxi is really kind and friendly. I would be careful about letting storm get angry with her, it might ruin all your socialisation and training you have done and make Roxi funny with other dogs.

Re: back again!!
Have you tried walking them together? Also letting them 'meet' under control on nuetral turf. I am thinking that Roxi should still have what I call 'puppy credentials' which most social dogs recognise and tolerate. However Storm is at that teenage stage and looks like she is asserting herself very forcefully.
