Injured My First Dog, Basil

Post by Staffy-Lover86 Sun Nov 06 2011, 20:15

I just found an old photo of my first boy, Basil. I got Basil when I was 4 years old in 1998, at that time he was about 3 years old, born in January 1995. I had always wanted a dog and my parents figured it was time to welcome a new family member. We adopted him from a shelter, where he had been brought after being abandoned. He was a silly boy, playful, sweet and smart as ever. He knew over 30 tricks and he knew them all perfectly. He always understood me and could realize when I was upset about something straight away. I had him until 2003, when I was 9 and he was 8. He had managed to escape our yard when my brother had accidentally left the fence unlatched, he ran out and had gotten hit. He injured his whole right side and his paw, though he had not died on impact he was in so much pain and they said surgery would be hard and take time. I could tell he was suffering so we had him PTS...that was a lot for me to go through at 9, and even though I now have Monty I still miss him every day broken heart
R.I.P my beautiful boy...

Aww. You never replace a dog. You only have more opportunities to be touched by another. RIP Basil.
