Re: hello my name is wendy
he still a puppy all breeds start off like that aslong you stick with the samething and never let him away with 1 time and the next time you punish him the next because that could confuse him, he will grow out of it
Re: hello my name is wendy
start puppy classes at your vets at about 3 and a half months and that really brings them on .
the crate he will grow to love it the nipping/biting needs to be put in to cheack straight away say no and put him in his crate without talking to him and he will soon get he should not be doing that.
and the barking im really suprised he has found his voice so quick use it to your advantage say shhhhh with your finger on your lip or whatever signal you want to use and when the barking stops reward him and he will soon stop barking on comand

Re: hello my name is wendy
Its completely normal wendy. He's just a puppy at the end of the day and like babies, if they can, they'll play with and destroy things we dont want them to. As mentioned above, puppy classes are a must if you want a well socialised, well balanced and happy pup. But dont worry, everything you've described is perfectly normal puppy behaviour.

Re: hello my name is wendy
I thinks I am calming down abit now lol....
The toys are sometimes dotted about the room but end up in his bed where he takes everything have to het him a new bed now as it has a bit hole at the bottom do you think a hard plastic bed will be ok for him

Re: hello my name is wendy
If you have a crate for him, why not make that his bed? Just put an old duvet or some blankets and his toys in there. He should be well happy.

as said if your usind a crate put a old blanket in it and he will snuggle down
and a plastic bed last a lot longer than fleese beds as staffys love pulling things to bits ha ha

Re: hello my name is wendy
Hi Wendy, welcome to the forum, and the joys of a staffy pup!
This, unfortunately is SO normal!!! I'd use his crate as his den & put a platic bed inside it with a blanket at the bottom.
Just a little word of advice. If you want to use the crate as his den/bed you should not use it for punishment. What I mean is, if he does something wrong (nips, growls, tears something up) don't tell him off & shut him in the crate - you want him to WANT to be in there. If he does something you don't want him to do, give a firm, low, drawn out "Noooo!" and turn away. Ignore him until he's calm & then give him calm praise. If he won't stop, put him in another room & walk out. Leave him there for 1 minute & go back as long as he's quiet. He'll soon catch on.

Re: hello my name is wendy
wendy i hope you get a trainer that knows what staffys are like, the one i had was saddly deluded and she had preconseption of staffys being prone to puppy aggresion, and not the easyest to train, but by the end she was proved 200%wrong, and she admitted it

Re: hello my name is wendy
well we had a good chat on the phone she seemed to no her stuff she but time will tell, she said that Casper will be nipping prob till he is about 6mths but as the previous reply she told me to put him in a naughty corner for a few min and he will learn (when i said 6mths i ment might forget a couple of times) she has about 6 puppies on the training not sure what breed they will be

Re: hello my name is wendy
there the most highly strung and snappy things but there owners put it down to being scared that there is a more dominant dog present in the room and they are just using self defence
