Barking at something ? Empty Barking at something ?

Post by Tom0909 Fri Oct 07 2011, 11:23

Right basically trixie will bark whenever she sees a bird sitting on our roof or when a neighbour is at a window. But as soon as they go she will "cry" and then carry on barking for a good 5-10 mins and I'm starting to think the neighbours r really getting annoyed I've tried sitting out there with her to catch her as she does it so I can discipline her but she never does it when I'm out there with her.
Can any one help?

The only thing you can do is teach her the "Quiet" command, but you'll need to be with her to do it. Sad

Maybe she can see or hear something you can't....... My girl will bark non-stop if she sees one of our cats (coz she wants to play, and they don't) and also she barks at sirens, no matter how far off in the distance they may be.

You can teach the quiet command over time. If you know what she is barking at you can play a video with the same sound to train her. If she is alone she may still do it anyway though. I think we all worry a bit about what they do when we aren't there.

Milo does this quite a bit, it's when he see's the birds on our roof and any noises, he goes totally mental when the people over the back cleans his windows lol! I know he mainly does it when the back doors are shut and I think it's a bit of attention seeking to boot! He never barks in the house-well very rarely even when the door goes Rolling Eyes

my stanley barks all the time at random stuff i find that it is more playful and inquisitive than anything else to see how far he can push us but other than that i think maybe the quiet thing is the best idea
