hi guys

can anyone help or advice, Stan is only 9 weeks old we crate him at night from about 10.30pm to about 6.00 am he is very good at night the only thing is we think he is eaten his own poo , there is traces in the grate but cant be 100% sure if he is eating it.my wife has caught in the garden trying to eat it as well .
we feed him puppy Arden grange 4 times a day at 30grams .

This can be a couple of things, fear of it being found, usually when they have been told off or punished for pooing.
Attention seeking, or lack of mental stimulation. Hope this helps.

Billy did this when he was a puppy he grew out of it, it's something that maybe some pups do, we just used to say no, if we caught him, he could be embarrassed that he has pooed in his crate

Poop eating isn't all that uncommon. There can be causes (nutrition deficits, hunger, obsessive behaviors) or it can be just cause they like it.. It does make some sense, as commercial dog food usually has cellulose and such which is reduced to sugars by bacteria in the colon. For this very reason bunnies actually eat their poop - so what we think of as bunny pellets (or from hares etc) have been through the system twice. I dont want to s If it's just an icky craving it can generally be fixed if you switch to a raw diet as the poops become much less palatable or it might disappear on its own. Or you'll just get used to it. Laughing

thanks for your reply's we hope he is going to grow out of it but in the mean time we will keep a close eye on him and clear it straight away so no temptations Smile

Milly has also done this a few times especially when she was younger she hasnt done it now for a while sometimes i think its just a faze they go through
