Hi!

My husband and I are very new (and very proud) staffy owners from Victoria, Australia. We have an 11 week old black male who is gorgeous, loving and so friendly (if a little naughty at times!) named Vlad. It's great to find a notice board with constructive advice and information on this awesome breed. Any information, tips and ideas anyone has will be appreciated! We have been able to train him to sit, drop whatever he has in his mouth (he's still a bit stubborn with this one LOL) and go to his bed. We are beginning to get somewhere with toilet training too It would be great to find out if we are behind in what we should be doing (we love to cuddle him mostly )

Sounds like you're pretty much on top of it, to be honest. The two things I like to teach first of all are "No!" and "Leave!" They cover SO much behaviour in a pup!

LOL Thanks! We use "No" and "Away" it works, but we are worried he'll think his name is No as he has heard it so much

Sounds as if you are on the right track. Patience and consistency will pay off in the end.

Thank you... we also have a 6.5 year old cat called Dita. Vlad would like to play with Dita, but Dita is still not entirely keen on playing with Vlad! She usually just hides LOL. I am sure this will eventually settle. It's all new to everyone here!

Thank you! Have already learnt so much! Reassuring my husband we aren't failures! As soon as I get the hang of putting photos on here I will post some. He is a poser Loves sitting down when he sees a camera or he rolls on his back to get a belly rub! I'm hoping as time goes on I can offer advice too... at the moment I feel a little selfish!
