Hello dog lovers

My name is kel and I love dogs. I am 26 years old and live in Miami Florida for a few years now.I have always had a dog with me, My dog was a German Shepherd named Duke who lived to 12 years.I used to obedience training my dog where I had pretty much full control over his actions. He was my dads dog but I basically trained him, however my favorite dogs has always been terrier breeds because of there size, intelligence, and endurance. I wanted a smaller dog that was athletic( I love running) but not to small..(LOL I would hate to imagine myself running with a Chihuahua). I also wanted a friendly dog for me and my family, and I heard many great things about the breed. My mind is set and even if it takes another year I will not get a dog until it's a staffy.

I do however have a question because it is unfortunate that I live in miami Florida because I am not 100% sure if I can have this breed in the first place. I have a Neighbor a few houses away that has a pit bull, so My question is are they completely banned from my area or is it possible for me to have one?

Hi, welcome to the forum.

I know that Bull Terrier are allowed, but I believe that staffords are banned in certain areas. I think your best bet is to go on the site I've listed below & contact the Club direct, I'm sure they'll be able to help you.

hi kel welcome to the forum
when i was in florida last year i seen a staffy so i dont think there banned in your part of the u.s.a
so hopefully you should not have to much trouble getting one.

I just had a quick scan through the miami dog laws and found this law

The acquisition or keeping of Pit Bull dogs is prohibited in Miami-Dade County.
(Section 5-17.6)

So might be worth phoning them and asking if it's all types of pitt bulls.

i blue staff might be the same but every county has different laws can you do a quick check on orange county laws

Orange county doesn't name any banned breeds.... in fact they have a section on their website for pets that are ready for adoption which includes a couple of pitbulls....so looks better in orange county

best bet then is for kel to move to orange county

central florda is in orange county so he should be fine

Thanks for the replies everyone and for the info. It is also weird because they say pit bull type dogs are ban yet I see many pit bulls for adoption in the Miami dog pound. I will be doing some calling today.

i dont think anywhere can enforce a dog banned not even the USA, as long you train it the right way i cant seee you having a big problem..

it would cost billions to enforce any typeo of dog ban these days but no1 as the money...
