Hello from Kelly and Sandi

Hi Everyone,

I have been lurking in this forum for a while as a guest, so thought I should register and say hello properly! We have a red and white staffie, Sandi. We think she is around 15 months old. We rescued her in January and she is the loveliest dog ever! She is so soppy, and great with other dogs. She also absolutely LOVES kids!

An ignorant man who believes everything he reads in the press has just made me absolutely fuming! I was just stood in a queue for the chip van with Sandi, who was stood nicely. This man came and stood behind us in the queue, and I could hear him saying 'Is that a staffie?' to his daughters. I wasn't sure if he was talking to me, so I said pardon? And he said 'It should have a muzzle on'!! It makes me so mad that the press make staffies out to be vicious, nasty animals. It couldn't be further from the truth.

Anyway, rant over!

Sandi is absolutely gorgeous. Look at that beautiful smiley face, I love her! I don't get why people are so ignorant and gullible. It breaks my heart to hear that some rescue places have a time limit too on staffs and put them to sleep because of the bad press they get. So sad.

Well done for rescuing her to her forever home. Wonderful thing to do.

You'll get quite alot of people with an attitude like that! Especially people with kids, they think all staffys are dangerous. Unfortunately, we all get them people, I usually just confront them and tell them my own opinion!

Thank you everyone for your warm welcome. The man did have his 2 daughters with him. And I did tell him my own opinion! I told him Sandi has never bitten anyone, and his reply was 'there's a first time for everything'. So I said, well, yes, so does that mean all dogs should have muzzles on?!! I was so angry I was shaking. I told him, well, if you are that threatened by her, don't stand next to her. My final sentence was, you shouldn't believe everything you read in the press! What an uneducated idiot. The whole time, Sandi just stood there good as gold. How can anybody be scared of that face?

Sandi looks absolutely adorable....that face, ooooh I just wanna give her a big cuddle.

Unfortunately a lot of people don't give the breed a chance due to bad publicity ( more so in the UK from reading the forums ), but in our society unfortunately we hear a lot more about the bad than all the good. If only more people would publicise the good side it could possibly change peoples perception.

Unfortunately there are too many of these idiots our there passing judgement without actually knowing anything about staffs.
I love the fact that Sandi just sat by while you gave him your thoughts, hope he realises that in future it's the staff owner he better be wary of when passing comments like that, not the dog
