Birthday??

My birthday is coming up next week, and Loki is now sleeping in our room in his pen, hes been brilliant, not crying at all, the only thing is on my birthday my friends and partner have arrange to take me out for dinner, I cant leave him in his pen while im out as if he pushes it hard enough he can get out so im gonna have to put him in the kitchen.

he cries alot when left at night, im not sure what to do, cause I know I wont enjoy it if I know hes at home crying

Post as many times as you want Hun like Steve said you can't post too much! Is there no one who could sit with him? Can't you secure the pen in the bedroom so he can stay there? Xx

I just have no-one else to talk to,no I live away from my family now, and everyone else I would ask is out with me...:/

well im thinking of buying a crate, and putting it in the bedroom see if that works better, cause I know he wont be able to get out. I just wanna make it as comfortable for him as possible!!

im thinking of stuffing the bed to look like someones in here xx

Aww don't worry - it will be fine Pop the crate in kitchen and leave the door open.

I still hate leaving Moo and she is 5ish, if I am late in she never notices Xx

I wouldnt worry so much if I didnt know he was gonna cry all the time, if I leave the bedroom and hes awake and im not there he starts clawing to get out and crying...

after the neighbours complaining im just so worried...

If your happier when he is kitchen as I mentioned pop the crate/pen in there, they soon settle, its us that worry x

I used a baby gate if you haven't got one already x

I suppose because he never settled down there, and thats why we moved him to the bedroom, I dunno i know im worrying cause its all im gonna think of while im out.!! yeah we have a baby gate!! I just wanna get a crate for the bedroom, x

Put him in your handbag and take him with you as long as you can i wish i still could do it with my 15kg growing monster..but I'm sure hell be fine for few hours just make sure he's tired and leave his favourite toys with him.

ahaha I wish, he wriggles too much!! yeah im gonna get my partner to take him on a long walk half hour before we go out then put him to bed and leave the house.

Also leave a TV or radio on for noise. An article of your clothing would be helpfull as well

yeah I always leave the tv on for him anyways,im gonna put what ive been wearing all day in there and change before I go out, make it really comfy in there.

We always leave some quiet music on the ipod for Rocky, he has his own classical collection on there    pampered pooch.

Do you have any Adaptil spray to go on his bedding ? This is great for a calming effect.

yeah ive heard that stuff is good!! im feeling really frazzled today, my son isnt listening to me and loki growled at him, I really dont want that behaviour encouraged from both my son and loki....Eli thinks its funny when he growls!! trying to get a 4 year old to understand tho...jesus

He will be fine for a few hours, just try not to stress as he will pick up on it

That's the way just do it gradually a few mins to start with, then build it up. I think the key is not to make a fuss when you leave or when you come back, that way he will think nothing unusual of it x

been doing it tonight hes not been crying or trying to climb out, ive not been talking to him at all when I leave or come back, and hes just been going back to sleep....it may have something to do with the fact hes been sulking because he was told off and put in the kitchen because he growled at eli...

Keep him awake as long as possible. Try to not let him sleep while you're at home and I think you'll find he can't wait for you to go out! Dogs will quite happily sleep/laze around for 15 or 16 hours a day, you have to decide when those hours are. Take him out a couple of hours before you go out then keep him active until you go out.
I personally don't think giving him your clothes would make a blind bit of difference. Your home is full of your scent. If he chews your clothes that you place in amongst his toys, you'll have given him the green light to chew anything else with the same smell!

I actually had to speak to elis nursery about school etc and couldnt tale the dog with me, so I had to leave him for 2 hours whole I went inand came back!! I came back and he was fine, hed been asleep!! we r going to torquay in the day, before my birthday, I feel alot better about it now.

he met a HUGE staff today, two springers and a jack, he loved it just wanted to play, passed right out now

I gotta go get my son in a minute, so gotta leave him again, not for so long this time tho, but im alot happier about leaving him
