Complicated issues but I don't think they are related. If a nation was going to do something drastic they would have done it during the height of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars

they maybe doing it now becasue of American cut back on their army we cutting our also   they may think we their for the taking..

The wars brought technological advancements and a well trained military. The cutbacks are on going but not to the point where capability would be compromised.

all this smell fish to me russia claim part of other county where will it stop who knows. I top uk army official said the world at the moment is at its worst still the cold war.

The cold war ending was a bad thing. The Soviet Union used to keep rouge nations in check. Now the threat is everywhere and difficult to predict. I wouldn't worry about Russia though at least for another decade or more.
