Treadmills Empty Treadmills

Post by Highlands-Brody Sun Mar 30 2014, 21:08

What's your thoughts on tredmills? I have a 4 year old staffy X called daisy that stays with my mum. We were her 3rd owner and we got her about 5 months old and when she was around 1 she needed a big operation on her knee but for some crazy reason the vet operated on the wrong knee which made things much worse for her.
Anyway we can only walk her very short distances or she will be hobbling for 2 days and She's terrible with other dogs, barks like mad although she wouldn't actually bite but other dog walkers moan about it so would a tredmill be ok for her? Or is this a lazy and bad idea?
She's going on glucosamine along with my other dog so this will hopefully help

If it's gentle exercise that you want to give her, maybe talk to your vet about some hydrotherapy, the water takes the weight and it can be very good for dogs that have joint problems. Maybe worth looking in to? I certainly wouldn't go near a treadmill.

Dogs need stimulation; smells, sights, sounds. They can only get this from outdoors, and I too would be concerned that a treadmill would be too hard on her leg. Do you know why her problem with dogs came about?

What did you do about the vet operating on the wrong knee ?, I hope you now receive some compensation from them ie free health care for this dog ???

Thanks guys. My mum lives rite next to a big river and I had her in there on Sunday swimming and she loves it but even that has made her limp. Ill defo keep away from tredmills then.
Well we payed over £600 and when we said it was the wrong knee they said that the they operated on it because it felt worse, even though there was no X-rays etc done for it and they never even told us afterwords that they operated on the other knee but in the end they accepted they made a mistake but we still had to pay for the 1 leg. Shocking as since they operated on the wrong leg it was all swollen and she had to put all her weight onto her actual bad leg if that makes sense.we should have taken it further but we stupidly didn't
