Post by pinkdolphin360 Sun Mar 09 2014, 07:54

I recently split from my hubby and moved into a small flat with my 5 year old bitch Lucy. I don't have a garden anymore so walk her at least 3 times a day. The problem is she is doing her business during the night and it's really not acceptable behaviour. Any advice gratefully received  Crying or Very sad

3 times per day probably isn't enough, when I was in a top floor flat with Biscuit she would have 2 walks per day and and extra 3/4 quick toilet walks. What time do you feed her in the evening and what's the last time you take her out?

Are you able to set an alarm during the night so you could get up and take her out for a toilet break ?

She was in a crate at my old house but no room here. I feed her at tea time. She did wake ne at 3 am this morning to go out and didnt do anything in the flat so that was good. I will try more walks see if that helps. Thanks everyone :-)

She's probably a little unsettled from the big move and changes. As said before maybe take her out a few extra times for the toilet just before bed and when she wakes up. She will soon settle into the routine Smile

Totally down to being uprooted and everything changing.

Moo and I haven't a garden and it works out fine, granted I have dog walker but even when I don't she is fine, I work full time she goes out in the morning I pop home at lunch and then after work.

Give it time for things to settle, she can sense how you are feeling and its all new. Hope your ok Xx

I only have a yard and Ledger won't toilet on concrete so we go out 5-6 times a day once as soon as I get up Ledger wakes me around 8am. And the last walk is between 7.30pm and 10pm

Hello! I hope Lucy settles down a little must be really stressful for both of you with all the change taking place  Need some help please 3198918699

I live in a flat and we take Axl out to toilet usually every 4 hours during the day, (sometimes 5 hours if he's fast asleep and I don't want to wake him). His last wee walk in the evening is at 10pm and he'll go right through the night.

Yeah looks like she is feeling more settled now. You have it worked out now, and being patient too will help. As said, its just a case of small walks just for toilets, and her normal walks in the day.
