6 month old loves faces too much!

Hi all,

My 6 month old girl Dakota loveees people! The only problem is when she is getting pats at the park and they are bending down she tends to jump at their faces quite hard. If anyone is sitting on the floor she also feels it's appropriate to come up to their face and pounce for a kiss. Aside from this she is great at the park and at home and plays well with dogs of all sizes. Any suggestions?

I'd correct her behaviour with a no! or enough! When she does it in a calm manner, when listens treat her when she doesn't just ignore for a few seconds hopefully she'll get the hang of it, you could also ask people to ignore her until she's sat calm xx

Agree with Hayley. Also if you are on the floor with her you are on the same level in her mind which is essentially an invatation to play.

I've tried calmly calling her back or telling her off but she is just too focused on her new human friend to care about anything I'm saying! I just wish other people would realise that getting down to her level is risky business and may result in a broken nose!

We have the same problem with Bane! At the park once, there was a couple of young boys playing and one decided to lay down flat on his back...Bane saw before we did and decided to go in for a flying kiss attack!   
He jumps up at strangers too and we are getting fed up of telling him down, but the people going oh no its fine and continuing to fuss him so we have started to put him on a short lead when we meet people and tell him to sit (kind of have to hold him down) and then keep him in a seated position while he has a fuss. He has got better, it just takes time

Try using a command like Down then only give fuss when she has all four paws on the floor, I know it's difficult when meeting strangers to do this but if she gets into the hang of doing it for you at home she is more likely to be better behaved when meeting others on a walk.
