baby mauled to death by dog

Another sad story of a baby being mauled to death by a dog  it hasnt said what breed of dog yet!

I was awaiting the breed too. Can only assume though People!!!   

Does it matter the breed thou. Any dog can have a bad day. No matter how good my boy is with children I would never leave them unattended. My heart goes to the poor parents. I just hope is not a staffy - they have enough bad reputation.

There is also another post about this subject in the Dog N Bones Bar. I thought it may not be a Staffy as they haven't mentioned the breed, I'm sure if it had been the press would have said right away,

Only for the same reason that you've mentioned, the reputation This is how pit bulls got banned.. a few attacks and the government produced a knee-jerk law which has killed thousands upon thousands of innocent dogs x

Totally agree Rachel. The government should stop targeting the wrong end of the lead.  

Dogs will always get the blame its the owners they should bring them up the right way a mans best friend always gets the blame

Yet again another sad sad story, a youngster has suffered and a dog has suffered because of irresponsible owners... makes me sick.

Its just come on the news that they think its an american pitbull type breed.

Yeah I've just read its a 'pit bull type'. So very sad, poor little girl  

They are saying the parents have been arrested for neglect.I saw the other day a man with a staffy walking with a child of about 4-5. The staffy was pulling so the guy stopped and slapped the dog right round the face. I wonder what kind of message that sent to the kid on how to treat a dog. I can see it now the kid going home slapping the dog in the face then getting savaged then there goes another dog killed. It seems the easy/lazy option to blame the dog.I guess its easier to blame the dog than have to do something about certain owners who shouldn't have kids let alone dogs.

How sad. Train dogs properly and train kids properly how to behave around dogs and 99.999% of these could be avoided.

What a sad story the poor little thing

That's a terrible tragedy just wish our lovely breed didn't get the blame all the time bd they got the story about the owners and how they treated it

What a surprise.. again this attack comes from a more than likely poorly bred and undersocialized, aggressively trained crossbreed named "Killer." Known by police to have shown severe aggression towards members of the public, killing other animals and escaping from the house/garden. That poor little girl.

It said on this morning the dog was called "killer" says it all about the owner doesn't it really

I just saw that it was called killer, I don't really know what to say to be honest, such a tragic loss of life and also the life of the dog as well, like Rach, I also don't have any sympathy for the mother and her boyfriend.

Every time I read something like this my heart sinks a little bit more because even though it was not a staffy and had nothing to do with them, it inevitably brings out the staffy haters and the "ban staffies" parade... such a shame

It was on the news these morning such a shame about the baby. I do feel for the family the loss of any child is a huge deal.
I can`t believe the idiot called the dog killer.
