Hello everyone.
My 7 year old Staffy is called Gypsy and she has developed seizures over the last few months. I'd love to hear from anyone else with a fitting Staffy please Smile

Hello and sorry to hear about Gypsy.
A dog I had years ago developed epilepsy as she got older.
The first time she had a seizure I took her straight to the vets (scared the living day lights out of me even though I am a nurse!) and they gave her Valium, saying it may just have been a one off, it could develop into a few per year, or if the seizures became more regular then she would need to go on permanent medication so just to monitor.
After that she had about four or five seizures each year - that I witnessed anyway - so she never needed medication for it, but very worrying and distressing nevertheless.
Not much could be done when she was having a seizure other than to make sure she couldn't injure herself on anything and her breathing was ok, stroke her and talk to her quietly, then keep her calm and quiet as she recovered.
She would be a bit confused and weak for ten minutes or so afterwards then soon came round.
Obviously I don't know the severity or frequency of Gypsy's seizures but I hope this helps a bit. Smile
