im back!

Hiya everyone. Sorry its been such a long time ive been so busy with a pregnant pooch and delivery check ups scans etc! Tali had three pups and guess what? All girls again! The first two were healthy but the third has a cleft lip and pallette. Many people suggested putting her down at birth but shes a fighter and we are going to fight with her. Little nugget is now 3 days old and much smaller than her sisters. But she is gaining some weight and is still strong. We are crossing each bridge as we come to it but looks like we are going to end up keepibg another girl if she survives unless we can find the right home. People might think shes ugly but to me shes special! Anyway sorry for my lack of commitment to the forum but I will be on a few times a week hopefully.

Hi, nice to see you're back. Congrats on the pups. What colour are they? Pups with cleft lip and palate do ok just like people. They might be a little noisier when feeding as its hard to suckle properly with the cleft palate. Please keep us updated

Might have too janey not looking forward to 5 bitches in the same house! I just hope im doing the right thing I wouldnt want her to suffer later in life. I just couldnt bare to have her pts without trying.

I know caryll! I got told off at work for using the Internet to go on forums so am doing everything off my phone which is so long winded. I will work out how to pup some up asap!

Me neither really. Well I have done a huge amount of research in the last few days and spoken to lots of dog people and vets. Apparently there can be othrr internal issues. The biggest risk is aspiration pneumonia due to inhaling milk through the gap in her hard pallet. I know its going to be a long painful and expensive road! Would be great if we could find her a home. I would be happy to draw up a contract and would pay for surgery if required at a later date but it would have to be someone v special with lots of time and patience. To be honest its nearly impossible to know how it will effect her. It depends on how she grows and drvelops!

As I've said before I fell in love with a cleft lip pup when we went to look first time round , hadn't noticed and as soon as I turned around this beautiful girl and saw it my heart sank but the emotions / guilt took over as I was already taken and had made my choice , she chose me Meanwhile Tilly had chosen Jenny and Jo so the decision wasn't so hard to make .
I remember at the time the "Breeders" mum ( looking after pups whilst they were on hols ) said she had been checked out at the vet and was ok , she was just never going to be pretty ( she was to me though ) but I took the easy way out by letting Jo and Jenny have their way.
We deliberated for days about going back to "make her an offer" on the other girl but decided , I think for the best , that 2 pups were too much for us to handle

She's beautiful! Well of course they all are but oh my days I think I've just fallen head over heels. I would have her in a heartbeat!

Aww it sounds like they are all doing very well I am sure Nugget is going to be perfect in every way and is in the best hands More pictures please when you can they are all adorable!

Thanks for all the lovely comments. Nugget is doing well I have worked out a great method to feed her. I know its early days but she is thriving and already seems to have personality!
