The big day is tomorrow!!

I've been visiting here frequently since the last post i've written which was around June, and i'm ecstatic to say that the big day is ALMOST here: i leave at 4am EST tomorrow to pick up our baby girl!   It's such a different feeling from having Chico. Chico the Chihuahua and i have been together for 8 years, since he was a pup. I was 14 when my mom gifted him to me as an early birthday gift so naturally, she had to be the one to do all the "puppy proofing" of the home and seeing what foods and toys would be suitable for him. Now that i'm a new homeowner, my boyfriend and i did our homework on what little furbaby would suit our lifestyle and the staffy is IT! i will be posting photos up tomorrow, and hopefully Chico will be accepting of his new little sister   I'm thinking the name Milkshake sounds suitable, right?
AGHHH, I CANT WAIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's great news Bella! And Milkshake sounds a lovely and unusual name - I'm guessing she's white? You've got to bear in mind what you'll be yelling out in the park "Come here Milky" "Come here Shaky".

It might be an idea to introduce Chico and the new baby sister on neutral ground to start with - down the road or in the park, before you bring the new pup into "Chico's house!"

Yes, in my last post someone told me that i could wrap the furbaby in a blanket on the way back home, and introduce it to Chico, and then introduce them. I'm pretty sure he'll be a little sad, being that he's been the only child for all these years!
But yes, neutral ground in our backyard is where they'll meet

Ooh exciting! Can't wait to see pics. I hope the intro hoes well. Don't be put off if there are a few teething problems in the early days as they need time to get to know each other. Let them work it out, but make sure you supervise them as Chico is so small. Good luck!

How exciting!!! Can't wait to see loads of pics, and Milkshake!! Love it!!

This entire weekend has been amazing, exhausting, and just filled with LOVE!
All i knew was that i wanted a little girl, and milkshake and her sister were the only 2 of the litter.
When my boyfriend and i met them, it was love at first belly rub <3 and quite a small belly it is!
Milkshake is the runt, but i can tell she believes in the motto "tiny but mighty!"
The trip home was smooooth. Introducing her to chico, it went OKAY  . he did accept her, but chooses to ignore her and not be around her   and if ANYONE has been holding her, he will not get near them. More or so he views us as traitors  i know in due time he'll come around, but it shows me that socialization is EXTREMELY important with ANY breed.
So far, she's been a blast. a loveable, INTELLIGENT, blast. We're still working on potty training, but so far we have walking on a leash and crate training pretty down pat. Also, any recommendations on a sleepign schedule? My significant other and i have been taking turns on taking her out when she cries at night, but again, i'm not used to it. Please share! And more pictures to come

So glad to hear all is going well, Chico will fall in love with her as soon as he gets used to her being around - just don't forget to him as many cuddles as you give Milkshake so his nose doesn't get put out!
