Hi Guys Great Site

Hi All

Just want to say what a great site this is. I am new and pick my new Staffy pup "Pablo" up on Tuesday he is a pedigree his kc name is "Faithful Ty Son" and I am really looking forward to having him. I have had staffies in the past and my ex still has Winston who is 3 years old. As a pub landlord Pablo will get lots of attention from my customers and the main thing is to give him his own time. Question I want to ask you guys is that the breeder has not given him his first injection yet? I have not heard of this before but the breeder said it is common practise. Can anyone advise please. I would assume getting his 1st jab the very next day after collecting him would be crucial. Thanks guys and keep up the great work

Hi and welcome to the forum from the girls and me  . I would say a good breeder should give him his first injection. You are right to get him innoculated straight away.

Hiya from me and Vinnie, how old will your pup be when you get him?
If I remember rightly some breeders do and some don't. I had Vinnies first one done, but I would get it done as soon as you can  

Hi & welcome from Darcy & me Yes your breeder should give the 1st injection. Usually around 8 wks. I'd ask again why they're not having them done?

I am not sure which country you are in (I imagine that the usual practice for pups where you are will be best answered by someone in your country/area), however here in Australia it would be unusual to pick up a pup from the breeder that had not been given its first needle.

If the breeder will not be getting it done and the pup will be old enough to have the first needle before pick up, could you organise them to do it at your cost before collection?

I had a puppy when I was a kid but that was a very long time ago and I cannot remember about any injection she would of had then. I would now only ever have a rescue dog so this wouldn't come up for me, sorry.
