Raging!! Empty Raging!!

Post by Mrs McFisher Fri Aug 23 2013, 09:40

So my husband was driving his works van yesterday, stopped at some traffic lights, went to set off and the car in front of him stalled, so he bumped her, very little damage to both cars. they swapped details, my husband said he would call her later. He rang her, and she was saying how she was going to docs cos her shoulder was sore and that she actually saw him coming towards her so she 'braced herself for impact', he said he wasnt even going 5mph.
I am raging, i am sick of people getting away with conning insurance companies out of thousands of pounds, and us having to pay more in premiums.
But its the insurance companies fault, they allow this to happen, of course poeple are going to try it on if they can get a couple of grand for doing absolutely nothing.
Thing is i cant just let it go, and think theres nothing we can do about it now...it is eating away at me, makes me so angry.

We have been told by a paramedic friend that new rules state that you cant claim for whiplash if it was less then 10mph - called a Low Velocity Impact - hopefully this will work so they wont get away with it.

Im all for claiming if its genuine - if he had hit her at 20-30 mph or more then fair enough..but not at bloody 5mph.

They have crash simulators that go at 2-5 mph, and they use those at demonstrations to get kids to drive safe. If those can be used without causing whiplash, the little bump she got would barely have jolted her.

That is ridiculous, absolutely insane, I was hit at 70Kph (46mph) and my insurance claim was knocked back stating I had nothing wrong with me, even after thousands of dollars paid on scans and treatment. Insurance companies are plain idiots.

This really annoys me too, you even hear about people getting into accidents on purpose so they can claim angry

Just let the legal beagles sort it out , realities are if there was some damage done to the car then there will be a claim anyway , and its ususally the claims not the value of the claims that do the damage, hubby is at fault as he ran into the back of her and its an open and shut case for the insurance , injuries of this kind are usually difficult to prove ( like a bad back) so not a great lot you can do

The damage was so minimal, my husband said he would pay for the car getting fixed. Its because they want to try it on and claim for whiplash too. As i say, if he was going at some speed then fair enough, but there is just no way she got whiplash. Its the principle of it.

I know exactly what you mean and people will try it on no matter what , needless to say at this point then if there is going to be some form of injury claim you need to speak with your insurance advise them what has been said , don't part with a penny and let them deal with it
