Hello from Leeds!

Hi folks!

I've been having a look on here for some time now but I've decided to make it official as my Missus and I will be the proud owners of a little puppy in 4 weeks time! He's a Staffy-Cross, but not a conventional one... his mum is an SBT and his dad... a Springer Spaniel! He's the result of a happy accident between 2 family pets and since overpriced 'designer breeds' are all the rage, I've decided to call him a 'Spaffy'!

In all seriousness however, as bonkers as he may be (if he gets the common traits of both breeds) I really think he could turn out to be a fantastic dog! It worked out rather well for me and my partner because we couldn't agree on which breed we wanted! A fair compromise I feel! Both parents have lovely temperaments and are nice and healthy and we're excited to see how our little Gatsby (as we've named him) turns out! I shall doubtlessly be asking for all sorts of advice but it certainly seems like I've come to the right place!

My sisters dog, Grace was the result of a similar 'happy accident!' between a staffy and springer, and while it always amases me that these accidents are allowed to happen! Grace is an amazing dog (totally bonkers though!) To be honest it was when she came into our family that I fell in love with staffs  

Thanks for the welcome folks! Haha I'm fully prepared for him to be bonkers, but I'm well seasoned in 'bonkers dogs'. My partner's parents have an enormous Springer, my Mum has a German Shorthaired Pointer pup, one friend has a Cockapoo and another a Border Terrier so I'm surrounded by high energy... why not throw another in the mix! I'm excited to see what he will look like when he's all grown up. It's difficult to tell at this age but he definitely has the chunk of a Staff and the domed head and lower set ears of a Springer so who knows, it will be a journey!

Haha, well I thought it only fitting!

Thanks to everyone's warm welcome, we are indeed counting down the days! The house & garden are prepped and puppy proofed, we've got nearly everything we need and we've had a chat with the Bunny and the Cat (neither we're impressed). Roll on 3 weeks time!
