Puppy TO Junior Empty Puppy TO Junior

Post by Jay Mon Jul 29 2013, 07:45

I was speaking to a chap in a pet shop at the weekend, and he asked what Roxy was fed, I told him she was currently on Puppy food and at 6 months I would move her on to junior, he said to keep her on the puppy food until she is a year as the junior food is just a gimmick.

What do you guys think?

Chiquito is raw fed ... I do know that most vets suggest keeping pups on a proper puppy food through until 12 months. However, there are many people who never use a puppy food at all choosing a food that is for all life stages instead Smile

Is there a suggested age on the food that you are using for Roxy?

The suggested age is 6 months, It is JWB, you pay a little more for the junior hence the guy saying it is a gimmick.

My suggestion would be to look at what is on the nutritional/analysis part of the puppy and junior foods and see what differences (if any) there are.

There are plenty of JWB feeders on here though - and I am sure one of them will be able to give you some advice as to what they fed when Smile

puppy food is also just a gimmick Wink pups are perfectly fine to be fed straight on adult food, so it's up to you when to swap

Hmm I was under the impression that puppy food contained different nutrients and was a smaller kibble for pups to manage.

you can get small sized adult kibble. Also they is very little to no difference in most puppy food to adult food. It is very much a gimmick as is all life stages in food

Wouldn't bother with puppy food! As Ella said, just a gimmick Smile

My 2 are raw fed and have been from 7-8weeks of age .... There is no 'puppy' or 'junior' version of raw Smile
