I'll second that , love a good thunder and lightning spell , when the rain is comin down that hard there are little fountains at the roadside gutters

Now its not so fun then , fortunately for us as long as the dogs are close they don't bother

Yeah, well, it's a risk to be sure, on a par with winning the lottery.

Closest I came was when I was child in North Essex. Some kind adult gave me and my friend a lift in the car to the bottom of our lane. As we got out the car - BANG! FLASH! - the electric pylon on the opposite side of the road got hit by lightening. Mo Farrah couldn't have beaten me home!

btw read the title as we got lighting...didnt realise Notts was so far behind rest of country,throw your candles/oil lamps out in liberation   after that you can get something called "heating" it great for the winter but no so usefull at the mo lol

don't care if it comes in the middle of the night, so long as it comes and clears up this thick hot air which is making Kuchar pant and preventing him from sleeping so I have to hold fan over him almost all night, and is making my son think and act like it only affects him and is my fault so I should punished.

Am sat in mcds at work and we have loads of lightening but no thunder or rain yet!

Oh, we used to call this summer lightning Ella. Flashes of light but that's all - no thunder, no rain, no refreshing of air. Another darstedly trick of nature!

Had it here in the night,it was very close and a bit scary, but I laid awake and watched it through the velux window in the roof. That was cool! Thankfully not a peep from Vinnie he was flat out!!

I was woken by the thunder about 6am nipped down for a glass of water and returned to find Ledger rooted under my duvet I have been a good thunder buddy and he wrapped himself around me and went back to sleep with his head on my shoulder, it's not been raining too heavy yet still really humid tho

Really dipped out here - a few sprinkles of raindrops and a rumble or two of thunder, and that's been our lot.
