strange things you see on walks Empty strange things you see on walks

Took the pooches on a new walk today and as usuall got dragged after, cows, sheep, deer and the odd bird brave enough to sit tight.
Then we came through some woods and alondside a field to be greeted by some lama's lol (obv not a native species to Hertfordshire Laughing )
Marleys face was a picture, he sat and watched them for a little bit and they stood and watched him, they must have out stared him because he was having none of it and wanted to get away as quick as possible even they were nowhere near him.
So at last I have found Marleys nemesis rolling on the floor rolling on the floor a fluffy group of lama's that looked about as aggressive as a baby kitten rolling on the floor rolling on the floor the wus

They are lovely animals and not the usual thing I would see on a walk either

Must have been a shock! Tongues

A lot of people use them to guard sheep. Very good guard animals. Smile Even if they do look like poodle/horse test tube hybrids.

Im sure Laska would have hung around and most likley play bowed them if they came over. she has no fear. her new best friend is an irish wolf hound called Milo in the park, when it came over marley tried his best to look bigger while she trotted up, looked it in the face and went for a bow to let it know it had to play..or else.
As for the alpaca's, i was wondering why you would have them Eleanor, thought maybee for there coats but there are alot of sheep farmers around here so maybee thats it. they seemed very placid and quite happy to munch away and just stare at us.

Not what you would expect to see, new experience for Marley though. The Alpacas look very at home with the house being built behind:lol:

It might be for their coats as well! Alpaca wool is really warm and soft! Big Grin

Their spit isn't too nice though... And the more angry they get, the further down their systems the spit comes from. At the end, they're literally just spitting up poo. Laughing Laughing No wonder your furbabies love them!

Alpacas are evil to the bone, that's why farmers love them. No one getting near sheep with them about!

hmmm its starting to make sense now, Im wondering if Marley realised that these guys arnt for chasing. if they are so good at guarding it would stand to reason that a predator would realise this by a stance and general body language. to me they looked cute but to him they probably looked like something not to be messed with.

It's possible! Smile Their spit is extremely smelly and they're good at stomping and chest-barging. Tongues

There was a llama on my course who absolutely hated everybody. She lived in a paddock with four alpacas, who she protected rigidly. And I was the only one who would go into the paddock with her, mainly because I did it once so people assumed I was fine with it. Laughing Laughing She used to charge me, spit and bite. Got my wrist once and I could barely move it for a week! Laughing The alpacas just ran away though.
