Affective Toys

Anyone who owns a puppy or a particularly boisterous staffy will know how long that new £14.99 tug rope will last. While a new toy is exciting for your dog (and sometimes for you) it is not easy on the bank!

If you want to save a few pennies and still have a hoot with your dog, here are some ideas which might help.

Be sure to always remove any labels, small parts or sharp edges. Only use under supervision.

  • bottle with the lid left off stuffed with treats
  • Old shoes
  • Icepops/icecubes – you can try flavouring them with stock and adding bits of meat
  • Old jumpers and jeans tied into knots (be sure to remove the metal buttons or labels)
  • Coconut (with the bristles removed)
  • A toilet roll tube, pringles tube or similar tube filled with treats/kibble (remember to take it out of their daily allowance)
  • Frozen bones and meat (never give cooked bones, even if they are frozen)
  • Socks – Treats can be put into them to keep interest
  • Bottles with treats or frozen water

Enjoy!
