So, Taco loves to chew but up until recently we haven't had any trouble with him chewing anything that he shouldn't. In the last week though? He's eaten two phone chargers and a computer charger. He isn't chewing everything, just his toys and electrical cables. I know I can keep things like computer and phone chargers out of his reach but unfortunately the same can't be said for things like the power cord for the fridge. How can I discourage his new fascination with electrical cables? I'd very much like to avoid charcoal Taco.

Watch him like a hawk, maybe put some Vicks on the wires (it puts them off because of the strong smell/taste) and every time he goes near one to chew it, tell him 'no' and give him a chew toy, something he's allowed. I wouldn't ever leave him unsupervised in a room with wires though, while he's still chewing things he shouldn't, for obvious reasons.

Does he know the "leave" command?
But yeah just echoing what Tara said, keep a close eye and dont leave him unsupervised. The vicks is a good idea too Smile

He hasn't been taught to leave things yet. He's not quite half way there. He's so quick too! I was right next to him when he picked my phone charger up and by the time I'd said no and swapped him out for a chew toy he'd already severed it.
I wouldn't have even thought of using Vicks, I'll definitely try that. Thanks!

Def something that will have to be closely watched. Try as advised above.

Baby gates are great for segregating off areas that could be potentially dangerous also Smile

Zeus used to be a menace for chewing things when we first got him, skirting boards, laptop cables, door frames etc. I then put some white vinegar in a spray bottle and start spraying it on everything I didn't want him to chew, and it worked!

It got to the point where I didn't even have to spray the vinegar anymore, I just got the bottle out and he knew to stay away from it. I'd definitely recommend it, worked for me!
