A warm hello from Denzel and Chelsea

Hi everyone,
Stumbled across this forum when trying to find out Chelsea's history. And I found what I was looking for.
Chelsea is a beautiful champagne/lilac staffie cross that we know didn't have the best of starts in life. She is nearly 3 now and has come on in leaps and bounds over the last year we have had her. We are her 'forever home' now and with Denzel's help we will make sure no harm comes to her again....
Denzel is our handsome staff x EBT. He was fostered by us as a pup, and we just couldn't part with him. I do believe he is the most spoilt dog in the world and unlike Chelsea, has to be the centre of attention whenever possible. He is also one of the most intelligent dogs I have ever known, has kennel club silver award in obedience and can almost speak english.
I haven't yet figured out how to upload images, but I hope to in the next few days.
Look forward to meeting like minded staff lovers! Sometimes we feel that we are the only ones!!!!

Hi Dave, when you say you have had history- do you mean you have owned Chelsea in the past? We got her off a private add in september last year. We wouldn't normally have done this but we were wanting to rescue and our local shelter had no older female staffs that were suitable at the time. Since then we have had a rocky start but thanks to all the support from our local dog trainers we have come on in leaps and bounds....We would love to know where she originally came from though as it may help us understand some of her behaviours. She is a very complex girl and we would love to understand her more! Look forward to hearing from you. Sarah

Yes, I saw all the pictures and they did say she had had a recent litter. But I think the problems occurred when walking her. Her owners both had bad backs and she was dreadful on the lead! I found it hard to hold her myself for the first few months.....so maybe that was it? I can assure everybody that Chelsea will not be having any more pups however beautiful they would be as all she needs to do now is enjoy life.....something I don't think she has really ever been able to do.
I would however advise anyone thinking of rescuing to go through a shelter rather than a private add- it is far safer!

Well, they obviously weren't bothered with the way she walked on lead before she had the pups. Otherwise they'd have tried to do something about it - I suspect she was rarely if ever walked anyway. Sad

Still, it sounds like she has a great home now, so good for you! thumbs up

Thanks Caryll, I don't believe she had been walked much at all, she used to spin around manically in circles a lot. She also flinches and closes her eyes if you raise your hands to quickly. The spinning has finally stopped but I am not sure if she will ever stop flinching :-(. Thank you for filling me in though....I really wish people would understand how sensitive dogs are to their upbringings and that having a dog is a lifetime commitment......

Ahhh she is absolutely beautiful. Both my husband and I have bad backs too but we are still able to both walk Rocky although not always both of us together. I walk him for about an hour and 20 minutes in the morning he then gets another of about an hour later on in the day. Rocky has been a bit of a puller on the lead but there are devises such as canny collars to help with this issue.

I wish all the happiness with your beautiful girly Chelsea and Denzel too.
